Following
the success of 'The Groove' phono
stage, it was realised that the price
of the original placed this technology
out of the reach of the average listener.
Rather than compromise on components
"The Micro-Groove" utilises the same
basic circuit topology as its predecessor
i.e. A low noise Class A front end
device providing gain feeding a passive
equalisation circuit, followed by
a phase error correction circuit with
an active DC servo around the correction
stage to roll off subsonics and DC
offset.
To reduce costs, both channels are
built onto a single board powered
by a single power supply. In 'The
Micro-Groove +' the proprietary discreet
Lithos regulator is included to greatly
improve the quality, transient response
time and noise figures of the voltage
rails supplying he whole board. This
brings the benefit of CD like dynamic
range, neutrality, resolution and
the ability to clearly define the
edges of notes and the spaces between.
This provides the listener with a
far more accurate and dimensional
representation of the original performance.
• 'The Micro - Groove' can be upgraded
to Micro - Groove + specification
for the cost of £300 + carriage.
The whole 'Groove' family utilises
the benefits of non metallic casework.
Experience has shown that his is vital
in the elimination of eddy currents
that would be propagated in the circuit
board if any metal casework was used,
with the exception of copper.
The acrylic case provides an environment
where minute changes in voltage created
by the cartridge are preserved and
amplified with minimal corruption.
The screening of the circuit and power
supply is implemented internally using
ground planes and earthed copper sheet.
Tom Evans the creator of the range
describes his choice of components
as "Post Cretaceous" i.e. Dinosaur
free. No so-called audio grade components
are used.
Clean using a damp chamois leather.
For stubborn stains use Mykal Sticky
Stuff Remover. Never spray with cleaner/polish,
as this can enter the unit and cause
damage. Brasso will remove scratches.
Replacement front panels and boxes
