Mutech Hayate 1st listen by our 1st customer…..

So right at that $7500 price point I went out and got a Mutech Hayate…so far it’s a really nice cartridge….out of the box not broken in what I am hearing is pretty straight forward. There’s no extra warmth, plenty of dynamic slam and it just sounds right. Musical and right…not a WOW cartridge but one that will wow if it’s on the record….it does sound very much like a modern MC cartridge….and maybe a bit bright and forward at times but also super smooth but not in a relaxed way…this is not a relaxed cartridge….we will see where break-in takes it….

Update from customer after further break-in:

New Mutech Hayate….just about broken in….it’s such a nice cartridge, so transparent and the high end is so pure and open sounding…it’s got this weird almost perfect combination of being relaxed yet aggressive and forward…..just love it so far……I got this thing on a whim waiting on a Lyra Etna Lambda to come via the trade in program…I will be in no hurry to open the Lyra when it gets here ….may not!!

More info regarding the Hayate:

The Ring Magnet Structure is NOT Ortofon type Magnet Structure with the core material in a virtual magnetic field and two yokes.
Hayate Ring Magnet structure has the Core material placed in a real magnet field made by precision Ring Shaped Magnet.
The Hayate cantilever is made of solid boron material, and the stylus tip is a line contact needle. A new thick OFC material has been adopted for the coil, and by using a single-layer winding, inductance has been minimized, improving bass and clarity.
The yoke material (electromagnetic soft iron) has been eliminated, and the SS- μM core material and coil are placed directly inside the neodymium magnet #50 (ring magnet structure) which improves the AC magnetic properties and thoroughly reduces magnetic distortion and phase distortion.
By developing a special solder and using a terminal board with excellent vibration damping properties, we have achieved improved bass expression and signal-to-noise ratio.
